Embedded applications are a system integrator’s most valuable assets. They contain valuable intellectual property, design knowledge, and innovation--yet they are very easy to copy! An unscrupulous competitor needs only purchase one system from the market, and voilà!, the embedded applications can be illegally copied and run on a similar hardware platform.
Advantech's Embedded Security ID, things are different. The security ID authorizing the application is stored in system BIOS. Embedded applications can access the Security IDs in BIOS/Platform/SQFalsh only by calling an Advantech supplied API, and if the Security IDs are not correct, the application will fail to run. It can also send a message over the LAN for further action. Security is assured!

Advantech’s Embedded Core Services team has developed an Embedded Security ID utility which provides reliable security functions for customers to secure their application data within an embedded BIOS, Platform or SQFlash. They are all SHA-1 encrypted, is accessible via Advantech API and program utility, and is supported by Windows XP.
