The well publicized
Windows® 2000 operating system is becoming increasingly more
common across all hardware platforms. To ensure there are no underlying
issues concerning this OS, Advantech has been testing Windows
2000 compatibility for use on Advantech Embedded Computing Group
products (Panel PCs and SBCs).
Windows 2000
is built on Windows NT technology that uses a familiar Windows
98 user interface. Microsoft has defined minimum system requirements
for running Windows 2000. These requirements are as follows:
1. A 133 MHz or higher Pentium-compatible CPU
2. Minimum 64 MB of RAM recommended.
At first, Advantech will only test the CPU boards (and system
products like PPCs) which meet these minimum requirements. This
testing involves the following criteria:
- Successful installation of Windows 2000 operating system
- Onboard device compatibility
- HCT 9.0 System Stress test
