 Advantech's
new PCM-5823 NS Geode™ series is a 3.5" SBC that offers
an onboard NS Geode™ GX1-300 processor or GXLV-200 processor,
plus support for dual ethernet. Both these onboard, low-power,
586-level Geode processors ease system configuration and upgrade,
plus provide high-speed fanless operation in temperatures up to
60° C (140° F).
The dual ethernet
capability provides support for many functions and applications
single ethernet SBCs can't. For example, Firewall, Router or Gateway
network functions can now be accomplished using the PCM-5823.
Also, because of the PCM-5823's low-power consumption, small size
of 145 mm x 102 mm (5.7" x 4") and stand-alone ability,
this network capability can be applied almost anywhere!
Dual Ethernet Flexibility
The dual
ethernet capability and processing power of the PCM-5823 make
it a smart choice for system integrators dealing with today's
changing application needs. The board comes with the impressive
Intel 82559E LAN chip or the more cost-effective Realtek RTL 8139C
LAN chip. Both provide strong dual PCI 10/100 Mbps Ethernet support.
Utilized as a DMZ device, the PCM-5823 can be used as a firewall
that sits between the internet and a company's internal network.
This solution is effective for Web (HTTP) servers, FTP servers,
SMTP (e-mail) servers or DNS servers. The PCM-5823 can also be
implemented as an internet-network gateway (router) that connects
a number of local networks.
