Advantech
is introducing a new biscuit-size, 586 level Geode processor SBC
that adds new LCD display capabilities to Advantech's 3.5"
SBC line. The added display flexibility of the new PCM-5824
allows Advantech customers to enjoy the cost savings benefits
of using STN displays in their applications as well as
the ability to use large size Plasma displays as well as
Mono and TFT displays. Equipped with a low power Geode
GXLV-200 or GX1-300 processor, the PCM-5824's capabilities
helps round out this series of boards.
The PCM-5824
is Advantech's answer to many of our customers' needs. It is based
on the already popular PCM-5820 SBC, but with several unique modifications.
- The PCM-5824 has C&T 69000 chipset with 2 MB memory on
chip (optional 69030 with 4 MB memory on chip). This supports
24/36 bit TFT, STN, Mono, EL or Plasma displays. (compared
to the PCM-5820's 18 bit TFT capability)
- Does not offer LVDS. (many customers do not need this option)
- Small heat sink compared to previous PCM-5820 with heat pipe
(lower profile and more efficient board use).
- Space saving more compact power connector (smaller than standard
4 pole)
Adding
Features Customers Needs
Many gains
were also made by utilizing the Geode GX1 processors. The
GX1 processor provides the lowest power consumption and high speed
performance for any x86 processor at these performance levels.
These processors also support most popular web plug-ins and leverages
existing software and hardware investments.
