Advantech's WebCon Series is coming to the eWorld!

The Advantech WebCon Series provides the following advantages to our customer: Quality, Support, Flexible ODM services, and fast Time to Market. The Webcon Series was created from two already successful products: the Web-2040 and Web-2143. The Web-2040 is more than a x86 computer box. Its most significant features include 3 COM ports that can control 2 devices through RS-232 and RS-485, 6 digital high-drive outputs that directly switch on/off high-powered devices, such as signal lamps, small motors, and relays in factories, and a solid aluminum case that serves as a thermal control and EMI guard. With its Web server capabilities and remote utility that both provide users a useful software tool to control and request devices linked to the Web-2040, the Web-2040 can also used as a controller in industrial applications that use ADAM series connections or PLC devices interfaced with the internet.

The Web-2143, equipped with 3 10/100 BaseT LAN ports, is suitable for various firewall applications, other DMZ functions or ID identification for the Internet services. In fact, one of our ODM customers is using the Web-2143's design as their hardware solution for their firewall products. Another ISP is implementing the Web-2143 into their ID identification services. Both the Web-2143 and Web-2040 have enabled Advantech customers to realize many of their state of the art applications.

More Products to Come

In the coming months, Advantech will continue to bring more practical and advanced WebCon Series products to the eWorld which will be categorize into 3 vertical markets: Industrial Applications, Internet Appliances, and Multimedia:

1. For Industrial Applications, such as traditional automation control, ERP ( Enterprises Resources Planning), BTO (Build to Order), and Value Chain Management, WebCon Series products will help in real time data acquisition and process control. Web-2000's StrongARM RISC solution can work in a 0° ~ 70° C environment with lower power consumption, about 20 % less than x86 products. Web-2044 provides 4 COM ports that links 4 PLC/ADAM devices.

2. For Internet Appliances, such as a Firewall, VPN, server, and gateways, Web-2153, Geode GX1 CPU, and Web-3063 and Web-2065, both equipped with Transmeta TM-5400 and PCMCIA interfaces, can provide powerful communication and computing capabilities.

3. For multimedia, such as Music Boxes, Kiosks, X media, or Webpay Phones, Web-2065 provides superior Audio and Video functions that can help our customers fully utilize our WebCon Series products into their numerous multimedia applications.

The WebCon Series can help our customers achieve fast Time to Market for their applications. The design methodology of the WebCon series is to carry the SOM-144 plug-in modules into WebCons' carrier board, greatly reducing design and development cycle time compared to traditional ODM single board solutions.
