Advantech Introduces 3.5 Single Board Computer with Low-Power
STPC Elite Processor
|
The PCM-9340 is Advantechs new 3.5 Biscuit single board computer
with an on-board, embedded, low power STPC Elite 133 MHz
processor. Other on-board features include 32 MB system memory, a
VGA/LCD controller with 36-bit LCD TFT display and 10/100 Mbps PCI
Ethernet interface. A PC/104 expansion connector is provided.
Optional SSD support for DOC 2000, 62-level watchdog timer and
jumperless
on-line setup, and an optional PCI audio function are also
included.
Easy Upgrade and Fanless
Solution |
With this board,
system engineers are able to upgrade their 386-based systems to
486 level or from a 486 system using EDO RAM to SDRAM for more
stable memory supply without worries.
There are several advantages of this memory
module change: the on-board DRAM can save the hassle to source and
install memory module due to market price fluctuation and
compatibility issues. In addition, it enhances the stability
because DRAM is soldered on board, and some applications require
minimizing the number of removable parts. It also eases the
configuration and installation process because there is no need to
set any jumpers for speed or voltage differences between various
CPUs.
In addition to ease
of configuration, the STPC Elite 133 MHz low-power CPU has been
specially designed to work well in environments with temperatures
of up to 60°C without need of a fan. Eliminating the CPU fan from
a system significantly increases both MTBF and application
possibilities.
Multiple COM Ports for Wider
Connectivity
|
The PCM-9340 integrates 4 COM ports with shared IRQ function. This
offers system integrators more flexibility to develop ideal
solutions to incorporate more devices or peripherals, such as
text-mode LCD panels, touchscreens, thermal printers, etc.
Availability |
Because
the supply of AMD DX5-133s will be terminated by the end of June
this year, the
PCM-9340 has been developed to replace the current 3.5 AMD
DX5-133 SBC market with equivalent computing capability, thus
providing continuous support for customers who require a compact,
cost-effective computing solution. The PCM-9340 is available now.
