The
370-pin CPU sockets, used for mounting Intel® Pentium® III
and Celeron CPUs on the PCI-6870, PCM-9570, PCM-9574, and PCM-9576
SBCs, are changing. Previously, these boards used AMP-brand
sockets. Foxconn sockets will be replacing them. “Actually, the
two sockets are virtually identical,” said Oscar Lee, the Product
Manager in charge of the affected lines, “but Foxconn sockets are
now widely used and more readily available.” Since no impact is
anticipated on customers and users, there will be no revision or
model number changes involved.
Availability
This change applies to all off-the-shelf items, and
will begin immediately. For currently ongoing ODM and OEM projects,
the change will of course be subject to customer approval.
