Introduction :
Put a half size PCI-bus CPU card together with a video capture
card, and you get a small yet powerful digital video engine that
can power anything from remote surveillance to DV archiving. Or
attach network cameras to an existing LAN system to leverage
existing infrastructure and lower the total cost of ownership.
Unlike traditional CCTV cameras that require special cabling,
network cameras connect either directly or wirelessly into
exist-ing data networks to make images accessible wherever
required.
Great Flexibility
Taking
advantage of the performance and popularity of the PCI bus,
PCI-6870 supports any of hundreds of readily
available add-on cards, such as IEEE 1394, and built-in AC’97
audio capability means that this SBC can handle all the audio
the law allows, too.
Two IDE channels are supported, for a total of four devices–two
ATA100 devices, plus two more at ATA33. Ethernet capability is
also built-in, for LAN and Internet connectivity. For easy
maintenance and upgrade of unmanned systems, the PCI-6870 can
boot from USB. Socket 370 allows for a range of CPU choices all
the way from low-power fanless, to hefty 1.26GHz CPU
powerhouses, and high capacity, cost effective memory is
provided through a 168-pin DIMM socket.
