Are
there different utilities for configuration and port mapping? |
 |
No, Advantech provides a new version
of the Serial Device Server Configuration Utility which includes
both configuration and port mapping functions. |
 |
Can
the ADAM or EDG Device Severs be configured with this new utility? |
 |
Yes. The Advantech Serial Device Server
Configuration Utility not only configures EKI-1000 Serial Device
Severs, but also connects and configures ADAM and EDG Series
Device Servers. |
 |
Where
can I find the new firmware and configuration utility? |
 |
Advantech's support website: http://support.advantech.com.tw/support/default.aspx
Search for an EKI-1000 Serial Device Server, and download the
new firmware and Serial Device Server Configuration Utility
from the BIOS and Utility tab. |
 |
Do
I need to connect both power inputs to separate DC power supplies? |
 |
The second power input (V2+ and V2-)
is for an optional redundant power supply, in the event that
the primary (V1+ and V1-) fails. If the second input is not
used, simply connect jumpers between V1+ and V2+, and V1- and
V2- terminals. |
 |
What
is the purpose of the Power Failure Relay Output? |
 |
The Power Failure Relay contact is
normally closed when adequate power is supplied to both power
inputs. In the event that either input is disconnected or the
external power supply fails, the contact opens. |
 |
I
accidentally connected the power wires backwards. Have I damaged
it? |
 |
Absolutely not. The EKI-1000 Serial
Device Server features reverse polarity protection, so there's
no damage if you inadvertently connect the power connections
backwards. |
 |
I
don’t have much space left on my DIN-rail, will the switch fit? |
 |
The EKI-1521/1522/1524/1351/1352 Serial Device Severs are
only 1.5 ” (37mm) wide, requiring a minimum of space without
compromising usability. |
 |
My
design requires direct panel mounting. Can I do this? |
 |
Yes, a panel/wall-mount bracket kit
is included in the box with the serial device server. |
