According
to some of our customers, there seems to be a little confusion
in setting up the PCM-3810A's Internal/external battery configuration
(using the PCM-3810A users manual). Advantech certainly apologizes
for any inconvenience this might have caused. We will try to better
explain the setup options here.
The PCM-3810A's
3 V, 190 mAHr Lithium batteries supply power to SRAM chips to
enable data retention when you turn your system's power off.
First,
let's make clear that we define where these onboard lithium batteries
are located. Some customers have been assuming these batteries
were the "external" batteries. The onboard batteries
are shown on the right.
Next, from
page 2 of the PCM-3810A Users manual, let us clarify the jumper
settings for (J8).
- If you
do not want to use the onboard batteries shown above, you
will need an external power supply to back your data up
on SRAM. You should also have your SRAM installed on Bank
1 and have the externally supplied 3.6 ~ 5 V connected
to Pin 3 and GND connected to Pin 4.
This information
should help eliminate the confusion customers have had setting
up the PCM-3810A. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you
encounter any other issues. Below is a summary of the Jumper 8
