After
announcing the availability of the Geode GX1-300 processor
(PCM-5820-G0B1) in our July
1, 2000 issue, Advantech is now phasing in this exciting
new SBC plus other PCM-5820 Geode GX1 processor boards.
With pilot runs scheduled for the end of October, here
is a summary of some of the product benefits and more detailed
ordering information.
Improving
Products For Users' Needs
Many gains
were made by utilizing the Geode GX1 processors. The GX1
processor provides the lowest power consumption for any x86 processor
at these performance levels. These processors also support most
popular web plug-ins and leverages existing software and hardware
investments.
- Added speed
- PCM-5820-G0B1 with GX1-300 provides great performance
and PCM-5820/L has a GX1-233 (upgrading the GXLV-200 and
GXm-233 processors previously used).
- Lower power usage and cooler operation
- PCM-5820 w/GX1-300 +5 V @ 1.5 A (typical)
- PCM-5820 w/GX1-233 +5 V @ 1.4 A (typical)
- Previous models using GXm-233 processor +5 V @ 3.0 A (typical)
- Smaller heat sink required because of decreased heat output
- Fanless operation
- More flexible options
- For example, LVDS is now completely optional, allowing
customers to better match cost to needs.
