Advantech's new SOM-4451 is a SOM-ETX CPU module board with an
onboard,
embedded, low-power 200 MHz SiS 552 processor. Other onboard
features include a VGA/LCD controller for 18-bit LCD TFT
display and an IEEE 802.3u 100BASE-T fast Ethernet interface.
Jumperless on-line setup and 62-level watchdog timer are
supported. Optional SSD DOC support is also provided.
With this board, system engineers will be able to upgrade
their 486-based systems to Pentium level with increased
confidence, partially because a Pentium-level SiS 552
processor is mounted directly on the board. Mounting CPUs
directly on board eases configuration and installation because
there is no need to set any jumpers for speed or voltage
differences between various CPUs. In addition to ease of
configuration, the SiS 552 200 MHz low-power CPU has been
specially designed to work well in environments with
temperatures up to 60°C without need of a fan. Eliminating the
CPU fan significantly reduces MTBF, and increases application
possibilities.
Why customers choose SOM-4451
1. Fanless operation:
Traditional Pentium CPU modules usually have
a heatsink/fan module. When the fan breaks down, the machine fails
without notice.
2. SoC with Ultra-AGP™ technology:
SOM-4451 delivers high performance
GUI-memory bandwidth, and powerful slice layer decoding DVD
acceleration to improve DVD playback performance. SOM-4451 also
adopts Share System Memory Architecture that flexibly utilizes the
frame buffer up to 128MB.
3. High
performance/price ratio: SoC
(System on Chip) solution integrates an x86 compatible processor,
high performance North Bridge, advanced hardware GUI engine, and
Super-South bridge to give the most performance for the money.
Potential
applications
1. PC-based multimedia machine
2. Public kiosk station
