Windows CE for Advantech's Products

Microsoft Corporation's Windows CE is a simpler, more compact version of its popular desktop Windows software. Currently, it is used mainly in handheld computing devices, but the trend is for it to be used more and more in other embedded applications, such as industrial computers or intelligent appliances. This is an important issue in the embedded PC field. Since Advantech is one of the leading suppliers of embedded PC products, it will carefully monitor developments with Windows CE and strive to provide better solutions for its customers.

Advantech's Boards Certified by Annasoft

In order to provide a preliminary solution, Advantech has cooperated with Annasoft Systems. Annosoft is a company that claims to be the first to distribute and integrate Windows CE for embedded PC systems by including some basic, but necessary, drivers and without needing to install DOS. Annasoft has recently certified four Advantech products as capable of using Annasoft's Windows CE solution. Those presently certified are the PCM-4862, POS-560, POS-460 and PCA-6145L, with more soon to come.

If your application needs additional, custom support or drivers, any Microsoft certified system integrator could assist you (such as Annasoft--see there internet site at http://www.annasoft.com). Another option would be to buy a development kit from Microsoft and do your own customization. Advantech, as always, will continue to try to supply a total solution for all its customers.
